Small electric car options in 2021

Posted on September 3, 2021September 3, 2021 By gadgetsarena

There are a lot of electric cars on the market nowadays. They range from small two-seaters, roadsters, limousines, large SUVs, sports cars… Most people are looking to buy an electric car as a second car, to use just for rides to work and home. In most cases, small electric cars are best for their needs. So let’s take a look at some small electric cars options you can buy in 2021.

Peugeot e-208

This is one of the several PSA Group compact electric cars. It was introduced to the market in 2020 and is, price-wise, one of the best buys for its range, practicality, and value.

Mini Electric

All the fun, you would expect from the gas-powered mini, can be found also in its electric alternative. It’s available just as a three-door version, powered by the similar motor found in BMW i3 which is able to provide around 180 HP of power. Unfortunately, its downside is the range, which is on paper around 200km, but in reality more around 150km. As you probably won’t go on long road trips with it, due to little cargo space, it is a great option for the everyday city car.

Opel Corsa-e

It’s very similar to the Peugeot e-208 but lacks its style and range. Its price is also higher than some other similar cars.

BMW i3s

First-generation i3 showed, that electric cars can be interesting and have a character. Since the first introduction its range and power have increased. We really like its handling on the road, easy driving, nice placed controls, and interior feeling.

Honda E

Honda E is a quite small electric car with a rear-mounted motor that promises an efficient and fun ride. It’s easy to operate with a small turning circle and moderate, but good enough performance. It doesn’t offer the same range as its rivals but will be suitable for most of the daily drives.

Mazda MX-30

Its toy car looks show that Mazda always seeks to do things differently. It has quite a low range, just around 150km, but the manufacturer simply believes that its customers won’t need it more. On the other hand, the handling on the road is similar to one in the sports car and delivers a lot of fun to the driver.

Renault Zoe

Renault Zoe is available on the market for quite some time. At the beginning, its battery was quite small with a range under 100km, but this has changed in later years and now you can get one with a quite big battery.

Conclusion

There are a lot of small cars on the market at the moment with new ones coming every year. They can differ from one to another quite a lot so it’s best to first figure out, what you want to expect from the car. If your range requirements aren’t very high then almost any will do, but if you need it to be longer then just a few models will come into consideration.
