Top 10 SNES Soundtracks

For this Top 10, we’re looking at the soundtracks that really pushed the system to its limits: the ones that achieved a richness that went beyond our expectations of a 16-bit console and are still talked about today. We’re only considering soundtracks that got an official Western release, so as fantastic as Seiken Densetsu 3 or Secret of Mana 2’s soundtrack was, it’ll have to sit out this time around.

I was growing more and more concerned as we went further and further into the list and DKC2 still wasn't popping up… I would have raged xD Good list! I would make a few minor adjustments personally but this I think this is an outstanding effort at the impossible task of picking just 10 SNES tracks to make a top 10.

Super sad faced when you put ff3/6 at #4, super chuck Norris dodge ball thumbs up when you put dkc2 at #1. I shit you not I listen to that ost on plane rides to reduce anxiety. Crocodile cacophony ftw

Look, I think, Terranigma and Secret of Evermore has one of the best Soundtracks and you didn't even mention it (but Mario instead???).

Not everyone will agree with this list, but the games chosen are definitely worth top 10 spots.

Except number 3. What the fuck why would you consider teenage mutant ninja turtles to be so high? Do you guys have some sort of disgusting turtle fetish? Why?

It’s a good list but way out of order, super Metroid didn’t even make the list?????? Really donkey Kong number 1? That gam shouldn’t even be on the list

I personally think that Super Metriod should have been in the top three. Super Metriod soundtrack was way ahead of it time and is still a personal favorite of mine. Here's some other SNES games that had a awesome soundtrack: Super Castlevania 4, Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Actraiser 1 and 2 (full orchestra. Beautifully made) Ogre Battle, Contra 3 (the soundtrack gets you pumped up for the war against the aliens) Sky Blazer, Street Fighter 2 and Gradius 3.

Nobunaga's Ambition: Lord Of Darkness would be in my top 10. I'd put Megaman X a little higher, as well as A Link To The Past. Chrono Trigger would be my number one. Otherwise, a solid list
