The Google Home Media Alarm Volume Issue – And a Fix!

The Google Home Media Alarm Volume Issue – And a Fix!

There have been a lot of complaints on my comment section about the Google Home Music Alarm capability and the fact that the Google Home music alarm is just too loud. The volume basically can’t be controlled with the Google Home, Google Home Mini, Google Home Hub, and other Google Assistant enabled devices.

Well, I finally got fed up and decided to create a solution for the #GoogleHome #MusicAlarm issue. It’s been just a ton of time and Google hasn’t put out a fix, and to be honest, I don’t know why they don’t just give us a couple of pre-created routines like I create in this video. They’ve already given us the functionality for creating alarms through routines, but they’re just not using it for something simple like this.

Anyways, enjoy the first fix I’ve seen posted for this bug!

Thanks again for another very useful video. Keep up the great work. The issue that I have been facing with these 'routine alarms' is that they never go off at the exact time that I set them to. They consitently go off 1-2 minutes after the time that I defined. Anyone else having this same issue, or is it just me? 😀

Thanks for this video, I have a question I want this routine to work without having to say a trigger, it sort of defeats the purpose of an alarm if I am already awake to say "start the alarm" or whatever trigger. Or have I missed something ??

Hi, I have a question that's kind of related to this video, and kind of not. Just wondering if you've run into/seen an issue regarding the media alarm. The music alarms for different family members all play from my Spotify account, although we have a family plan with separate accounts. So for example, my daughter can tell Google to play a song. It recognizes her voice and plays it from her account. I can tell it to play a song, and it plays from my account automatically because again, it recognizes my voice. Same for my wife and son. However, no matter who in the family (four people) sets a media alarm, it always plays from my Spotify account, as I was the one who originally set up the home group and devices. This is messing up my listening history/ suggestions which is a big part of what I like about Spotify. Are you familiar with this issue? Any ideas? Thanks.

Brian, I hate to be a p i a, but i am frustrated with uploading pictures to my H H. I followed your link and that one in particular was mainly about connecting to various objects with a smart plug. That will come later, if at all. I go to my tablet. I have chromecast connected to my TV. I went to photo Google app, select some pics, clicked on upload and in this process, what i get is Google's own wallpaper pics…why am i having a hard time with this process. I do recall even casting my Chromecast and immediately I hear a bell on the H H, but that is all…no pictures. Is it possible that i need to start from scratch again by pretending that i am setting up H H?

    Another great Vid…
Routines are awesome you can do so much with them. I use them to get the assistant to speak reminders.. ex. "Kevin it's time to water the plants" I can now keep house plants alive 😀

Making all those routines (fi an alarm per day) will be a pain to manage them. If I make an alarm for every weekday and I go on vacation I need to stop them all and maybe I forget one or two. If I have set the volume to 20% for the alarm it will probably stay on 20% so you have to think abaout setting it at fi radio listening level. In short there's no tool for managing all the routines and it's easy to lose track. Be warned 🙂

Thanks for another great video. I've been watching your channel since mid-December after buying a GH Mini and I've come to the conclusion its not yet quite ready for prime time. I feel like I'm playing with a product still in early beta development. After a couple of device resets and software re-installs the same problem exists where the device after a couple days simply starts saying it doesn't recognize any commands. Frustrating. I haven't given up yet but almost there. Grrr…

Hey Brian, I have used routines to set alarms in the past but I have found that they are not always reliable. They work most of the time but sometimes they don't work or are late. I have even had times when I have deleted the routine and although no longer appearing in the routine list, still runs the routine on the device. The only way to get rid of it is to completely delete and re-add the device. So although this is a work around I don't feel that is reliable enough to use as a wake up alarm. I just don't know why google can't fix this. The 40% volume bug is definitely one of my pet peeves.

The problem is at least here in this area. The routines the alarms can be anywhere from 7 minutes late to 7 hours late to 7 hours early. I know it's not right here in this area because I see it on the internet. And I hear it from Neighbors and from Friends. Do you think Google will ever get this corrected. I've given up and went to Alexa. But I do keep both the Amazon Alexa it is right down to the second. Thanks so much for your great work

Is there an option with Google Home to have Google Assistant NOT repeat the response? If it's late at night and I ask Google Assistant to turn off the lights, I do NOT want her telling me loudly that she's doing it… just do it and be quiet!

Loving the "Keep your stick on the ice" routine, could you be any more Canadian Brian 😋 What next an "Apologise profusely" routine 😄 All joking aside, another useful tip, keep em coming!

The only issue I can see is that routines don't seem to be shareable so if I set an alarm this way but my wife wants to change it then it would be a problem or are they shareable now ?
