The Big Picture : Delhi : L-G's role redefined

The Parliament passed the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, with the Rajya Sabha clearing it on Wednesday. The Upper House passed the bill with an 83-45 vote, following several hours of heated debate and walkout by several parties, including the Congress, BJD, YSRCP and Samajwadi party. The Bill seeks to amend the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Act, 1991. It provides that the term government referred to in any law made by the Legislative Assembly of Delhi will imply the Lieutenant Governor. It also prohibits the Legislative Assembly of Delhi from making any rule to enable itself or its Committees to consider the matters of day-to-day administration of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

The comment section says it all… when politics tends to defeat the purpose of reason, this is what you expect in return. Indians are getting under the influence of Instagram based political IT cell.

what a joke of a discussion. both panelists with the same POV. Please bring a neutral discussion with panelists supporting different POV(s). Anything statutory will always be legal but the question is, will it be ethical?

Quite a stupid argument by Desh Ratan, really. By what logic an elected government can be overruled by LG?
He is trying to argue for a autocracy in Delhi because it has been passed parliament! He is forgetting that India is not a democracy led by parliament but by the constitution whose interpretation of supreme court is final.

Well, tbh I don't give a f*** about what is happening in Delhi and states of northern India like Gujarat ..These states are extremely privileged, all the attention of central government and major fundings go to these states for the sake of being the capital and home town of our honorable ex chaiwala PM Narendra Modi..The states of Eastern India remain deprived..The amount of attention PM gave when a massive disaster happened in Sundarbans ( which is undoubtedly one of the most important area of not only India but also the world) was just mind-boggling..All this party cares about is vote politics and creating religious divide among people..West Bengal used to be a peaceful place where people of every religion used to live with perfect harmony but now BJP is coming here to destroy our state and its secular culture and needless to say, to create more pathetic condition for women!
