HD Chevy Bolt EV sets Production Class EV record at Laguna Seca by Billy Kwan

At the 9th annual REFUEL all-electric time trials at California’s Mazda Raceway, Billy Kwan grabbed first place in his category driving a 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV.

In the process, he set a new track record at 1:56.619, actually beating every Tesla entry from last year’s race, but not this time.

The Monterey track, formerly known as Laguna Seca, is 2.2 miles long and features 11 turns including number 8, known as the Corkscrew, which plunges at up to an 18-percent drop between curves.

It's nice to see a Bolt on a track. One thing I noticed is the driver's windows is open, which I think would be normal for cabin cooling with an ICE so that A/C doesn't steal engine power, but in an EV A/C doesn't run off the drive motor and shouldn't effect performance. I wonder, would having the window up provide better aerodynamics, and even with A/C on get a better time?
