Google Home New Updates and New Features for November 25, 2018
There are a ton of new updates, new features, and general news for the Google Home, Google Home Mini, Google Home Hub, and all of the great Google Assistant enabled devices on the market today. This week’s updates and new features is really heavily focused on the Google Assistant, but our Google Home products are all utilizing all these new great updates in 2018.
Google Assistant picks up a few new tricks
The Google Assistant and Google Home can set routines to trigger when you dismiss an alarm. This works with Android phones and can be found in the clock app on your Android device.
Speaking of those alarms, the Google Home will now have character alarms. First off, we have Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles and Lego characters.
You can also broadcast messages back to your Google Home through your Google Assistant app on your phone. Messages returning back from your family (or friends) will come in the form of a message (voice and transcribed).
For those with Android phones, Google Home and Google Assistant can now silence all the phones in your home. No iOS capability yet…but we’ll get to that.
Chromecast can soon be added to Google Home multi-room speaker group
Your first and second generation Google Chromecast devices can now be added to multi-room audio groups! Hooray! Play away on your TV.
Google takes a Shortcut to link Assistant and Siri
Apple opened a door with Shortcuts integration, and Google walked through it in style. In the latest Google Assistant application, you’ll see the ability to utilize shortcuts. This means you can use Siri to trigger routines through the Google Assistant integration. This will be incredibly powerful in the future and I can’t wait to explore this.
Here are all the new languages coming soon to the Google Assistant
So many new languages, none officially promised, but all showing in code!
Arabic (Egypt, Saudi Arabia)
English (India, Indonesia, Ireland, Philippines, Thailand)
Spanish (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru)
