Google Assistant for iPhone was announced at Google I/O 2017 and was originally introduced for the Google Pixel and Android at Google I/O 2016.     You say your'e surprised Apple let it in their store. Apple knows it will sell more iPhones. I for one stayed on Android because of Google Now and Google Assistant…both of which are now available to "the enemy". Same goes for Google Photos. It's actually more surprising Google would make them for Apple users.

    Google assistant is so much better on samsung androids. i can access it from my locked screen where you can't do that on Iphone. on Iphone you have to open the app before you can do any of the commands.
