First Drive: 2019 Audi E-Tron
GO BUY A SHIRT OR STICKERS! –
Audi has entered the electric vehicle fray. Say hello to the 2019 Audi E-tron. This is the German automaker’s first fully electric machine and it’s a surprisingly good starting point for four-ringed electrification. It does make you ask a question though; do you prefer maximum range or fast charging speeds?

$74,800 is pretty dear for an SUV. also, the tax credits go poof at the end of 2019.
It's not the first car to charge at 150kW. Tesla model 3 for over a year supports up to 250kW.
Superchargers are still faster. Tesla's are quicker and faster, and have way more range and are cheaper.
Be aware that the EPA rating for Audi e-tron quattro is very conservative, compared to other EV’s. The consumption number in the car is also very honest and the Guess’o Meter is rather pessimistic. In real life, and head to head tests with the I-pace or model X, it has almost exactly the same consumption on long trips. Maybe 7-8% higher, but you’ll be able to pull a few kWh extra from the battery of the e-tron compared with the I-Pace and X90D with similar net capacity, placing the e-tron between the Model X Standard Range and Long Range. (The first has WLTP rating of 233 miles while the e-tron has a rating of 258 miles. The EPA rated them 250 miles and 204, accordingly.. go figure!) I’ve driven the Audi e-tron quattro 270 miles on 20-inch wheels. Yes, 204 miles is what you are likely to get if you drive hard- or on motorway only, doing 80 mph, or in harsh winter. But that also true for the competitors.
Some of the best reviews on you tube. Like riding in a car with the fellas talking cars. Keep calm and Hoon on!
Nice looking vehicle. It looks like a regular car, not some mutant version. Someone tell Tesla to take notes.
Starting at about 1:11, Lynn is re-enacting an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm where Larry's passenger seat has a vibration issue.
Looking forward to Audi making an EV coupe like an S5 EV ?
Looks GOOD! BUT… the RANGE SUCKS! 4 an EV, NO EV RANGE based car should be under 275mi
THAT SHOULD BE STANDARD
It is good to have options. But there should be only one standard for recharging. A government mandate should force that.
30% ev volume? I could see that. It looks amazing. Top notch review as always.
More cars need to be made in that shade of blue. I truly think it would make the world a better place.
Cool music choice on this video. ??
God damnit yes. Starbucks (or other shops that want a little green wash-y positive buzz) need to install CCS chargers.
