DJI MAVIC AIR ALTITUDE TEST! (MUST SEE)

hey YouTube! neil here back with another video.

in this video, I put my Mavic Air to the test. an altitude test, to be exact. I show you guys how high my mavic air could go before losing connection!

DO NOT TRY THIS IN THE US. IT IS ILLEGAL TO GO ABOVE 400 FT. READ ALL LAWS BEFORE FLYING YOUR DRONE.

if you liked the video – comment and tell me what your favorite part was, smash that thumbs up button and subscribe!

The DJI firmware limits the drone to 500m (~1500 ft) altitude. There are ways to remove this limit, but none of them are particularly easy to do and involve jail-breaking/rooting the firmware. The signal loss was caused by the Mavic Air being directly overhead. If you're going to push the altitude envelope, it should be as far forward as it is high in altitude to get optimum signal…if you're going to fly it 500m high, make sure it's at least 500m forward of your location before ascending to that altitude. Triangularity is key…you want all 3 sides of the triangle to be equal for optimum signal – distance forward, altitude, and the angle from the drone to your transmitter will produce the strongest signal when all 3 lines are equal distance, and there are no obstructions blocking the signal, such as a house or building.

Make sure the antennas are pointed parallel to the drone at all times, never allow the tips of the antennas to be pointed toward the drone (perpendicular). This is a sure way to lose signal fast. The Mavic Air should get signal up to 3 miles (~5000M) if the antennas are set up optimally based on line-of-sight to the drone in the air. I've flown above the cloud layer at 1500 ft. (500m) plenty of times with no signal issues. Always check prevailing wind currents, as the winds 1000 ft high can be substantially stronger than surface-level winds. There are plenty of apps for Android/iOS that provide quick and easy access to UAV flight conditions.

I absolutely love my Dji Mavic Air. I think is one of the best Drones ever made.
I just subscribe to your channel and would like for you to subscribe to my YouTube channel as well.
Thanks for all you do and please keep flying.
