Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Hot Wheels: World’s Best Driver for the Nintendo Wii U developed by Firebrand Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive.

Mattel’s popular Hot Wheels toys are back in video game form in Hot Wheels: World’s Best Driver, released in 2013. The game includes 24 different Hot Wheels vehicles and four teams to choose from, each of which has its own unique driving style. It’s a racing game that isn’t a racing game, as the 70 missions forego traditional races for short driving challenges. The super-fast green team has missions based on speed, usually requiring players to beat a certain time or catch a ghost. The blue team is technical, the yellow team is powerful and the red team is outrageous, which is evidently a skill. Hot Wheels: World’s Best Driver is a single-player racing game released to retail at a budget price.

This video review features video gameplay footage of Hot Wheels: World’s Best Driver for the Nintendo Wii U and audio commentary from Classic Game Room’s Derek.

This game is about skill, and you don't have it, so don't hate this game. I think game is perfect when you know it. Example is wall drift: if you learn it, you can drift like a boss. But when you don't, you will fall. This game is all about this. And this is its beauty.

Seems like "The world's best driver" is what you need to be to play to play this game without crashing all the time. I love how self ironic the developers have been….

I have a theory that this was supposed to be some sort of generic stunt game, but they changed it to hot wheels mid development. They spent more time making everything hot wheels then fixing the controls. If only THQ was still around.. they could make something nice.
E.A. could probably make a good game too. Though they would charge dlc up the ass for cars… that I would probably buy…

The reviewer was too nice. Here's an honest review (Based on gameplay videos)
Crap, graphics are crap, voice acting is annoying, strong disconnect from anything hotwheels aside from the vehicles, no racing action so there's a huge problem.

It could be a nice game if it was a real RACING game, racing against other cars, and not a  reality show bullsh#. And the narrators, gezz, looks like my father talking to me when I was 5.
